Wanton Wednesday: Dunkin’ the Drive-Thru
on 2012/02/01 at 00:00Once again, I feel compelled to break my chronological timeline to share this timely piece…
The other day I was giggling with Rider about scavenging close scrapes and things gone wrong. So far I’ve been rather lucky; had some scary moments but no real mishaps or being caught out despite getting rather daring about some of them. Shortly after our chat ended, I headed out for further scavenging… and ran into my first big blunder.
The premise was rather easy, I thought: to go through a drive-through line for coffee and flash a bit along the way. I’m driving a rental at the moment that has the perfect little pocket on the dash to hold a camera! not that I planned it that way or anything…
Before I did it, I tested with another site that one can stay in the car for which I hope will be accepted as another category on the Scavenger Hunt; you’ll see that in a few weeks. It went off beautifully, so I had high hopes for success with this one.
Did a couple set-up shots first…
Then got in line, got up to the ordering kiosk, and flashed away whilst ordering with what I thought was a very good show! Unfortunately…
…which I didn’t catch until I was checking the shots well after the fact. Thinking I had one great pic, I immediately set up for another timed shot and unfortunately the timer went off just as I was pulling away from the window and into the parking lot where there was a family with young children heading toward me… so yeah, a bit of a cringe there! Luckily they didn’t seem to see what I was doing!!
I went on to do another (successful) scavenge elsewhere, which will open up yet another category. But I was still feeling bad about this one, so thought I’d try again.
Another day, another drive-through line…
In retrospect, I should have paid more attention to that big ball in the sky and realised what effect it would have when I turned the camera back on myself…
But, no. So here I am, chatting up a storm at the kiosk, probably caught perfectly in their monitoring system cam, but this is all you’ll see…
*sigh* So, I’ll leave it up to Dee to decide whether I’ve earned this next notch on the Scavenger Hunt!
I have several more sites in queue, so the Dragon De-scaling series will continue in any event
Go see who else is being wanton here

LOL yes I hate to break it to you but they saw more than you bargained for
And although my digital camera is fairly big and clunky (to some, to me it’s perfect because I’d lose a tiny one) it has a screen on the back that flips out to the side and rotates so that one can take a self-shot and see what they’re shooting.
Full marks for effort, dear dragon but do not fear. You are not the first or the last person to be frustrated by a doughnut.
But did you spill the coffee Kazi?. Good effort amd giggly tale indeed
I wish I had the time to read all of your posts tonight. This looks like one hell of an adventure.
Great little adventure and love the shots…good luck on the scavenger hunt.
Love doughnuts and love the pics
Your scavenger hunt adventures always make me smile! I like real life stories like this one that don’t always go according to plan.
You are definitely the Scavenger Hunt Queen. *bows down.

I’m always impressed at the scavenger hunt ‘check marks’ you get!
We love reading about your adventures
The “WTF??! the camera moved” line truly made me laugh. The donut shop I visit (couple times a week) has no drive through, but I do get drive through coffee regularly. Would be awesome to see someone like you working the camera.
Our first thought when reading about a “big blunder” was that you were captured on the restaurant’s drive-thru camera, and they gave you a big round of applause when you reached the pick-up window. Which, now that we think of it, doesn’t really sound that much like a blunder (unless it violates some sort of Scavenger Hunt rule or something). You’re much more bold than we suspect we ever will be!
You have some serious ovaries – I doubt I’d have the nerve to do that (and I have a lot of nerve)! Colour me impressed, and a tad intimidated. Doesn’t matted that it didn’t work as well as you wanted. You still got a pic, and you still get the Scavenger Hunt mark! I’ve updated the page
xx Dee
Yaayy… thanks, Dee!!
Believe me, I do have to get my nerve up to do these, but it does seem to be getting easier…
you have the best naked adventures. You have more courage to pop something out than most I know. Kudos to you.
What a crazy hunt, the camera moving made me laugh… That happens to me in privacy too.
