Wow, excellent question!!
I enjoy them both thoroughly, for different reasons. When I am planning out and setting up my shots I am enjoying directing the action, the play of the scene as it were. Dommy? maybe.
In the moment of being in the shot, I am caught up in the scene and may continue to act in it even after the camera’s part is done. In a way it’s a form of solo play.
Which do I prefer? hard call… I think acting in the shot may edge out slightly more though
