When I originally set out on my hiking adventure, I had a particular goal in mind, and this week you see it and even get a two-fer for the deal… :)

The Eliot Tower is an observation tower where people can climb and get a far view of the Boston metropolitan area and the Atlantic Ocean.  It’s got a bit of a castle feel to it with narrow windows in a narrow staircase opening up to the observation deck.

There was nobody in the area on this day, given the overcast condition and the view of the horizon was not great…

…but the view within the deck was something else ;)

Now, right beside the Eliot Tower is the Eliot Memorial Bridge…

…which according to what is written here was erected in Charles Eliot’s memory in 1904.  He was the one responsible for the design of the Charles River Esplanade and also for getting the land set aside for the Boston Parks system, including the Blue Hills area in which I was hiking.

I’ve posed by a bridge before and also by a monument, but want to point out that both the tower and the bridge were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, so another notch on that score as I pose here (as well as the one for the observation tower) :)

Yet another successful Dragon De-scaling! and so that makes notch #39 (and 40!) on the Scavenger Hunt!

There’s still even more shots from that day, so I’ll be back next week with some more public wantonness ;)

Go see who else is being wanton here
