This is Memorial Day weekend in the States, when summer is kicked off officially. In Massachusetts, traffic to the Cape starts getting quite gnarly this weekend… public pools open… most people fire up their barbecue grills.
In recognition of that, I have two sites to post for the Scavenger Hunt; one is from the Cape (specifically Provincetown, a mecca for alternative lifestyles) and the other from the Blue Hills area. I’m not able to take a real vacation due to my heavy workload, so I’m taking most Fridays off through the summer. A week ago last Friday I journeyed to P’town before the season officially opened, and spent a glorious day wandering around. I managed to get a few scavenger sites shot there; I am sharing this one today as a special summer beach edition, though I’m hoping to break in a new category of “pier/wharf”
The pier in question is not far from Fisherman’s Wharf, for those who know the area. It’s badly burnt out; I have more pics of that here. I enjoyed exploring it and snapping pictures before settling down to take a naughty shot… Fisherman’s Wharf had some early tourist activity going on several hundred feet to my left, whilst a surveying team mapped out the shoreline to my right…
Now, I mentioned grilling earlier, yes? So park picnic sites such as this one at Houghton’s Pond open this weekend…
And so I posed a bit with my morning coffee (who could want for more?)… while behind me in the parking lot people were walking their dogs
This makes #49 and #50 for me on the Scavenger Hunt!
Fifty sites… wow, I can still remember the thrill of my first. And the thrill is still there each and every time I do this. I am pleased and proud to have inspired others on the journey as well. I have a few more sites shot and “in the can,” so to speak, not sure yet how I will present them, now that Wanton Wednesday is ending. I’ve done a few of them here, but am hesitant to make them a running series the way I had on Wanton Wednesday. We’ll see… it’s getting harder to keep finding new sites where I don’t need a partner to help me.

Ah Kazi, congratulations on reaching #50!
I’m afraid you’ve been beaten to it with the first category, as SapioSlut started it by doing a ‘jetty’… I’ve been doing research, and while there are differences between jetties, piers, wharves and quays, boats can dock at all of ‘em, so I’ll consider them the same category.
Your second is, however, a new category. No one else has done ‘picnic site’ (and you’ve done ‘park’ before). Yay!
