Wicked Wednesday: Taking In A Show
on 2012/08/29 at 00:00Some summer days are just too bloody hot and humid to be wandering about outside.
On one such recent Friday afternoon, I decided to come in off the bike trail and hit a movie instead (fear not the biking series will continue!). The rest of my family had seen this particular movie already so I went solo.
When I entered the theatre, I really had no plan other than to see the movie. I had long ago decided that this was one notch that needed a partner to be carried off successfully. Still, something made me bring my camera with me.
This particular theatre had stadium seating. I usually like to sit in the first row behind the rail so I have a place to prop my feet. Being a matinée show in sunny (if muggy) weather meant that it wasn’t very crowded, although it certainly was not empty either. I settled down to enjoy the movie and for a long time I was a very good girl.
But then I got that itch, you know? Here was a scavenger notch itching to be had, I had my camera with me, I might as well make it all worth the price of admission! I had a hoodie with me in case the air conditioning got to be too much, and tried to catch a few surreptitious shots beneath so as not to attract attention of those around me. Unfortunately in such low light, nothing was being picked up by my camera.
Not even when I moved to the side corridor and tried to get the light from the screen behind me.
I was going to have to use my flash if I was to have any luck here. I pulled down my sundress while draping the hoodie over me, readied the camera, and… when explosions went off on the screen in the movie, the flash went off underneath my hoodie.
For good measure, I waited until everyone had filed out of the theatre (I’m one of those who likes to watch every bit of the ending credits, there’s occasionally some nice surprises for our patience). Then I stood up and flashed the screen
Another successful Dragon De-scaling accomplished! and so that makes notch #66 on the Scavenger Hunt!
I have a few more sites in store, so I’ll be back next week with some more public wickedness
Go see who else is being wicked here

Wonderful! A scavenger hunt synchronised with the movie soundtrack. I think we needed audio for this one!
It’s odd when a theatre empties. I always wonder who is still watching from the screening room through that little hole high in the wall behind you….
I actually had a projectionist proposition me once; he’d noticed that I kept coming back to see one particular movie over and over
Ooooh I wanna go to the movies. This is going on my “to-do” list for Scavenger Hunt. Great idea and great photos!

Next time I go to the movies, I will definitely stay for all of the credits, just in case you’re there

I’m also one who stays till the end usually.
Never saw anybody jump up and flash the screen at the end though
I guess I need to stay till the end more often!

Very nicely done, Kazi! I tried to get cinema shots the other week, but they were seriously fuzzy
Going to give it another go soon.
I’ve updated the Scavenger Hunt page!

Thanks, Dee!! This one was definitely a challenge to photograph!
Ha Ha Ha I love that you timed the flash with the movie!!! Brilliant!!! I also love to see right to the end of the credits – the Pirates of the Caribbean films are fabulous for their end shots!!!

Oh LOVE it! So funny and daring, and lovely breasts too!
Great job! We’ve never taken any pictures in a movie theater – we’re too worried management would confiscate our phone, camera, or whatever – but we have gotten up to the odd bit of hanky panky when the place was more or less empty. And sometimes when it wasn’t.
